Wired LAN connection for file sharing and Wireless Internet

Post by bhootsingh »

Hi,

My problem is as follows:

My office Desktop is connected through LAN for file sharing.

For Internet access I use wireless connection.

But In order to access internet I had to disable the LAN Connection. Both does not work together.

ipconfig when both are connected are as follows:

Can some one guide me step by step what values I have to feed for TCP/IP for wired connection so that both connection can work simultaneously on Desktop.

Thanks.

Well from what I see the adapters are using 2 different gateways and DNS servers.

You should be using DHCP. Do you have the IP and DNS set statically on both machines?

Dear Raisin,

Frankly I don't know what is DHCP.

All I know that on both wired LAN connection and wireless Internet connection - Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties -Both - Obtain IP Address Automatically and Obtain DNS Server Automatically are selected.

And I have posted the ipconfig/all data that I am getting when both wired LAN connection and wireless Internet connection TCP/IPv4 properties are set on auto.

How to find out if my Desktop is using DHCP for wired LAN connection and for wireless Internet connection?
