Cold

Post by downhill »

So at work it was cold cold and double cold.

I had just missed this shot of a bald eagle and was kicking myself for how I went about getting it. I finished up my work and was heading out of the mouth of Hells Canyon when I spotted this owl. This time I went up the road a ways, got my tripod out on the camera and got a few good shots in.

This is about 70 yards away.

Pentax K-5 with a 55 to 400 mm lens.. and the pic is cropped to bring the owl in closer.

Now it's about 8 degrees f outside... and it's in the top of a 35 foot tree or there abouts.
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

Awesome pic.
I don't think that's an owl though....looks like a Harrier hawk.

Nice shot Downhill :)

Definitely not an owl, but I'm no good with raptor ID.

Maybe a red-tailed hawk?
