iPhone 5

Post by morbidpete »

So, Apple announced a media event for Sept 12th. Obviously the iPhone 5 announcement. Thoughts on the upcoming phone? From the leaked pics, Not sure how I feel about the 2 tone case, But in the end, It will be in an otterbox so it does not matter to me. Looking forward to the 4" Screen.

Now I have had many many iPhones and androids. More iPhones lately.

I have a few demands, If they are not fulfilled, I might be looking into a SIII or newer

1. Quad core, No excuse!
2. NFC!
3. LTE
4. adapter to fit my many many iDevice docks

If it have these 3 items, I will be pre-ordering, if not I might hold out or go back to android for a while

yea I like my iphone 4. no siri, decent apps installed, plus im about done on my contract but no way on an upgrade! It works I like it. not a fanboy just like the phone. why mess around? plus att has my rate locked in so I stay with this device. Just hope it holds out, batterywise is what I think about. My old BB I could swap batteries but not with apple. Plus siri sux IMO based on others that have the 4s. I had a buddy do a demo of the voice commands on his 4s and siri was fairly disfunctional and mostly a PITA

yea but I will say this, apple is now copying android smart phones with the 4" screen. Wait! I thought the 3.5" iphone screen was the standard! now I gotta carry a tablet on my belt. Cook is gonna pimp out the iphone.

The 5 is what the 4S should have been last year.

I'll agree with that!

Was up until 4:30 am trying to preorder, Finally grabbed my 2. I feel like this is my last one until I go back to android, I was always a huge fan of HTC's androids due to the sense gui

Well I can't disagree with that at all. I was able to land 2 32 gig ones. Forget ATT website they had nothing but problems. I got thru Apple fairly easy and timely though.

No reason to get one. I'm happy with my Droid. Apple products are expensive and overrated anyway.

Why the iPhone 5 on Verizon and Sprint Won’t Juggle Calls and Data
By BRIAN X. CHEN

A lot has changed in Apple’s new iPhone. But with the Verizon Wireless and Sprint versions of the iPhone 5, there’s something that will remain the same from the old model: The phone still won’t be able to place a call and handle data activity over the cellular network at the same time.

Older Verizon and Sprint smartphones on 3G networks were not able to handle simultaneous calls and data because of a limitation in CDMA, the 3G technology that those networks use. But now some Verizon 4G LTE smartphones will let you stay on a phone call while looking up something in an app or checking e-mail. So why not the iPhone 5?
.....
Rest of NYTimes Blog article

----

Doesn't that also mean, that EVEN if you're on ATT you can Surf and Talk at the same time but only at 3g Speeds?
Almost seems like Apple did this deliberately, to make it ATT seem like a better choice for the IPhone 5 as opposed to Sprint/Verizon.

I'm still sporting a special phone. I DON'T need no smart phone. My phone takes the short bus to work & I'm OK with that. Besides my phone ever gets smart with me it becomes skeet.

Not bad, but could be faster. Seems like Sprint should have LTE where you live already.

Oh well guess they're way behind.

Fastest I've gotten recently.

They are super far behind, They have the smallest LTE footprint of all the carries, and like usual, they are the slowest :-P But it's unlimited, ANd the amount I tether (did and once there is a JB will) I need the unlimited. Plus 200 bucks for 3 lines. cant beat it

iPhone? Why would you even consider it? The S3 is so much better than the iPhone, it's not even funny. Take the display, for example. Gorilla Glass 2. Afaik, iPhone doesn't even have gorilla glass 1.
Went hiking the other weekend, had my S3 drop on a rock and then into the water. Un-****ing-harmed. I was in awe.
