Slow upload vs DL speeds. Pls help me tweak my settings

I've read this page: http://www.speedguide.net/tcpoptimizer.php

and have already done the following:

- Choose your maximum Connection Speed from the slider bar (the maximum available bandwidth, in kilobits per second)
- Choose your Network Interface, or check to Modify All Network Adapters
- Pick "Optimal settings" from the radio-buttons near the bottom of the program
- Click on the "Apply changes" button and reboot

but I'm wondering if my connection can be boosted further using the Advanced custom tweaks. (I can't make heads and tails out of them

) I have a 1.2Mbps connection. Speedtest result:

I average .81Mbps download and .44Mbps upload

I just wonder why my upload speed is half that of my download speed. Is that normal?

Why is Steam showing rates that are sometimes blazingly fast? Is it because the files in question are already in my PC and it then shows "instantaneous file transfer" rates?

It is normal with residential connections to have your download speed much faster than your upload speed (they're used primarily to download content, as opposed to serving/uploading data).

What is your advertised speed ? Do your downloads/uploads approach close to it (as in 90% of the advertised speed) ?

You may want to change your IP ToS field as per the Optimizer documentation, but it is dependent on your internet provider.

Ah so I can't tweak that so at least it would reach 0.6 or something nearer to the the DL average?

My advertised speed is 1.2Mbps.

Your speed may vary and slow down a bit during peak hours, otherwise it should be closer to the advertised speed.

Those Analyzer results do not indicate the "Optimal" settings in the TCP Optimizer, you may want to try 64240 or 128480 for your RWIN value.
