Problems with Folding & MSE Anti Virus

Post by minir »

Hi to All

I'm using Win7 with Microsoft Security Essentials anti virus as protection and seem to be running into a recurring problem.

I am Folding & it appears that whenever it uploads or downloads (Which it does automatically) my MSE shuts off leaving me unprotected till i notice it and then have to do a Scan to activate it once again.

Question
--

Is there a setting i am overlooking to avoid this from happening?

Any help appreciated as i have 3 machines all doing the same thing at various times

---

Thanks

Have you configured Windows Firewall? Also, is MSSE up to date?

I hope that I can help. If the above doesn't work, try uninstalling and re-installing MSSE.

Never encountered that either Minir, and I have Win7 Home, MSSE, and f@h on my main machine.

I'd try the above mentioned first...if that doesn't work maybe look at the folding logs to see if anything shows there.

Keep us posted, should work fine together.

Thanks RaisinCain the firewall was the answer. I've waited till 2 machines had downloaded & uploaded to check & all is well

Hi Larry.....I haven't run into that issue...but if it occurs again, go into MSE's settings and add the directory of your Folding into the "excluded files and locations" section.
Open MSE, click on the Settings tab, highlight "Excluded files and locations"...click Browse...drill to your Folding directory wherever you have that (such as C:\Folding)...add that. Now MSE will keep its nose out of that folder.
