Using 3 monitors on an HP 6804

Post by Qui-Gon John »

I was helping someone who wants to add a third monitor to his HP6804. He currently has dual monitors already. How can I go about helping him do this? The motherboard has an integrated VGA & DVI and those are what is currently in use. The specs say they become disabled if you install a video card.

you add a video card with the support needed unless you want to show everything the same on all 3 which you can get an adapter to do.

While I realize that, is there any way to get the built-in video ports to not be disabled when inserting a video card. The motherboard only has (2) PCIeX1 slots and I cannot seem to find a multiple monitor video card in that format.

There are a bunch of cards with dual DVI + hdmi which you can use an adapter for that or there are even models with triple DVI
here this one supports 4 :D

But that is a PCIeX16, and the mobo only has PCIeX1.

I saw ATI/AMD Eyefinity, but they do not seem to have PCIeX1 either.

You'll likely need something like this. > http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161354
You'll have to read though the details to be sure it can run 3 monitors but I do believe Eyefinity cards can.
More choices here. > http://www.newegg.ca/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007708%20600007854&IsNodeId=1&name=PCI%20Express%20x1
I don't know the same things you don't know.
