I am new to this forum and this question may be incredibly basic for this discussion board, but I have been looking for a way to automate my "dial-up" through my DSL connection and all efforts so far have been unsuccessful. Basically, at startup, I have been using a weather program that is configured to connect to the Internet automatically when it loads. Repeatedly, I get the dial-up connection prompt, and although it has my user ID (to connect to my ISP) and password at the ready to connect thru DSL (I have it configured as if it's dailing a LAN), it refuses to connect automatically although I have checked that box numerous times. Each time I walk away from my computer waiting for it to startup, hoping that by the time I return, it's already connected, I see the dialup prompt waiting for me. I have the network configuration to dial through my internal SpeedStream modem (PPPOe) as a default and I have tried "always dial a connection, never dial a connection, and dial a connection whenever..." in Internet options. Nothing has worked.
Now I found out about the scripting tool to automate the logon process, but I have no clue how to create one. The Explorer Help section didn't really help. Can anyone either suggest a sample script (username, password, logon end?) or point me in the right direction so I can figure this out! I've been trying to connect remotely from my PDA and if it stalls like this, the point of remote syncing is lost, if someone needs to be sitting in front of my computer to click "connect"! Has anyone had this problem??? Please let me know!
