Memory timing and purchase question

Post by Easto »

I'm currently running 8gb of Cosair mem (DDR3 1600 - PC3 12800) with timings of 8-8-8-24. I can upgrade to another 8gb but with this particular memory it will be approx $75.00. There is a special at NewEgg for the same Memory (Cosair) but with 9-9-9-24 timings for $90.00. I'm not sure if those timings really make a huge difference when you're running 16gb(?). Regardless I'm not running any software that is cutting edge or playing games right now so... I'm thinking of buying the 16gig pacakge and selling my 8gb on eBay to make up the difference.

Good idea?

Edit: I just found the Cosair (16gb) with slower timings for $75 at NE.

as far as i know, memory timings mean little these days except for benchmarking.
