The new room is about finished so I pulled the trigger on the new computer parts. I'm sticking with the same Case (Super Micro Tower), PSU (PCP&C 750w) and Vid Card (8800GTS) for now in order to save a few bucks (and hopefully be able to afford the DSLR I want for Christmas). I'm not using any SATA 6 Gb/s hardware yet and I like the idea that the Mobo has some room for me to grow into. I'm also interested in seeing if my music software (Cubase) enjoys 8gb ram as opposed to 4gb before. I'm not gaming and I don't watch movies on my computer so I went with this monitor. For no other reason than it was on sale and had good reviews and was at a nice price point (I didn't need a HDMI option).

New parts on the way
Thanks! Just some WD Black label 7200 stuff. I still need to upgrade to some SATA 6gb stuff.Ken wrote:Nice selections, all are rated high. That should be a good set up. What hdd's are you using?
I just got it together this morning. Nothing like the nice crisp feeling of a fresh install. So far everythings been pretty straight forward. More than I can ask for.
After almost 1 month I have to say this new setup feels really good. I've setup the bios for "performance" and this thing really sings. I've seen the turbo boost kick the CPU up to 4.2ghz, I think I can tweak the mem settings a bit more but for now... One happy camper. Once I get my music program up and running I may add another 8 gig of mem just for the fun of it. But honestly, I'm nowhere near taking this thing for a ride. I would like to get a better CPU cooler though. Not that there are any problems with overheating at all, it's kind of cool her today and all 4 cores are running at 28-32c during average use. Sometimes I may see 42-46c when its hot in the house but other than that... Bingo!
