Made a one string guitar today

Post by Shinobi »

Here is my new one string slide guitar that I made. Kind of in between a cigar box guitar and a diddly bow, but small size like a ukelele. I installed a piezo pickup that I made, and installed a 1/4 jack so I can hook it up into my guitar amp or recorded it on my computer. :-)

Nice. Post some audio if you can, I'd be curious to see how it sounds. You've probably seen the clip of Jack White's single string, but just in case

Light gauge, 8's or 9's. This is a A string I believe.. that I had laying around. :)

I have seen that.. and before this, I did make a diddly bow like that. Here is what my single string guitar sounds like.. forgive the mis-steps in the playing ;-)

Very cool project Shinobi...I had never seen that video of Jack White but he such an under appreciated guitarist/musician.

Side note: Anyone else having issues with Youtube? Thought it was me but I'm getting good download speeds and testing at my usual full 6 mbps. I can't even watch a 360p video without buffering.

There is another clip of Jack White here talking about Son House.. I like how he is so introspective. And I also do not see any issues with YouTube tonight.. from my neck of the woods anyway..

Sounds great and sounds fun to play. I may have to try to make one for myself one of these weekends.

Here's the White Stripes covering Death Letter by Son House from the Under Blackpool Lights concert. The other clips are from "It Might Get Loud' with Jack, the Edge and Page. Pretty good flic, and worth a watch if you like any of the 3.
