Should I pick up this Radeon 6850 or worth waiting on this 6870 to drop in price?

If it were me and I was spending the money, I would get the better card. I bet it’s not long before it starts dropping in price. I don’t know how long, if ever, it’ll be before it drops in price enough to make you happy.

The thing is that I have read about how some people feel that the 6870's aren't "worth" it compared to the 6850's, so with my budget personally, when there's a $50 difference in price, and supposedly not a huge difference performance wise, you start adding cost in with the calculation to figure out which is better.

You've never really said the games or apps you were wanting to play.. both cards should play even Crysis 2 on high settings with no problems. Personally though I'd go with Nvidia..more games seem to be geared towards more support and the drivers are better, that's not to say ATI doesn't have some good stuff cause I've still got a few laying around but right now that's just my read on it.

Well I would like to play games like the latest GTA, Witcher 2, and I want to be ready for Skyrim and really I just want to not have to upgrade a GPU for another 3 years.

Also youre right about Nvidia, checked out some benchmarks on Tom's and it shows the gtx560 beats out the 6870 slightly but noticably in a lot of titles.
