I need a RAID card

Post by RoundEye »

Promise SX4000. RAID is great if a drive fails, but if the card fails (like me) you are screwed. It’s an older card, do you or anybody you know have one laying around?

I have a bid going on ebay but I’ll drop that if I can find someone who wants to sell the card outright. I have 400 gigs of data I can’t get to. Some of them are pictures of my son when he was younger. I’m just not ready to give up on recovery yet.

I have no ATA RAID cards... SCSI or SATA, I probably have some extras... :(
What RAID are you using? Can you slave it to another to get your pics?

Yeah, I need ATA. It is my understanding that each RAID card speaks a different “language”, even from the same manufacture. So I’m under the impression I need that exact card.

Yuck :irate:

If your raid was mirrored (not striped, etc.), you should be able to slave one of the drives and get your pics. Which card you used shouldn't affect that as long as they were mirrored... Have you tried?
