Slow Internet Connection Help

I have a very slow internet connection speed and need some help on how to tweak it. I'm using a router, is it possible to tweak this router so I get at least additional speed specially on downloading files? I'm using TP-Link Router.. Please advise.

I think the speed is usually decided by your service provider. Pay extra money and you will soon get satisfactory answers.
