Beating my head against the wall

Post by Easto »

My wife's sister is over at the house and setting up a gmail account. Should be no biggee but... I sit here trying to explain to them about secure passwords (she would have just used her birthday if I didn't step in) and then trying to explain about the "challenge" quesitons i.e. when they ask what high school did you go to, you answer green or something that doesn't apply.

They all just think it should be something easy like birthdays, phone numbers, address... D'oh!

Say your words and step back.

Advice can only be offered, not forced.

If nothing else, show her the google of "identity theft" and maybe that will help.

No problem.

It just kills me seeing people at work and all over the place using their kid's brithdays and easy stuff like that as passwords. I've had a few people at my desk while I'm logging into this or that and they always comment that I seem to use really long passwords.

Ya it took awhile for my mother to see the light but she finally did. The people that shock me the most are the ones that use password for their password.

And then you get the ones that actually use a complicated password but stick it to their monitor on a post it note so they don't forget it
I don't know the same things you don't know.

That’s exactly why I got out of the field. Bikes don’t ask totally stupid questions when you work on them and they don’t get mad when you work on a black one. :D
