two things, 1st- did you d-load the right update for CS1.1. Reason I say this is because there are two versions. One for retail, the other for the mod. Also there was another patche for half life-TFC it is 11041106.exe. If I remmeber right I had the same error that you did until I used the 11041106 update. OBTW I also tried the auto update and it doesn't work. You have to do them manually. Hope this helps

Thanks, at this point not really sure what I have downloaded...scary, I have moved so many files from one site or another, not sure if my next move will launch something from a field in North Dakota or not

I thought I had gotten the retail revrsion, but will try again.

Other thoughts? Uninstall, then reinstall and apply fresh downloads?

I'll make it back to kill another day...

if you have the cd's then I would uninstall and do a fresh install. Now I'm at home (work earlier) and here is the list of update/patches you should need

Then install patches in order: hl1100, 11001101,11011104,11041106. then install cs10, then scv1011

Since you allready have the retail CS then you don't need cs10, The scv1011 is for the mod update you need cs1001 for the retail

Bought CS just before X-mas, Played for a little while, then couldn't get into games. Found out they came out with v1.1 and thought I had downloaded sucessfully til a couple days ago I gout a message saying "executable out of date" and it won't let me connect to any servers. The auto update feature has never worked (always says no updates avail)I have wasted HOURS downloading version after version - no luck. Any thoughts? I was just starting to get sorta good...

Hi everybody im new to this forum. Regardless tom i think i can help you out. When you d/l the cs version 1.1 and halflife patch 1.1.0.6 you probably didnt get the leak patch that fixed the errors that came out with the two updates. If you would like i can email them to you or icq them to you if you still need my help.

Hey Groth I have all the patches also. though I don't do ICQ any more. Let me know if you need them. I used the long names for the files that I had in my patches folder instead of 1.1.0.6

Hey tom my mail server wont allow me to attach files over 1.5meg and the leak patch is 1.6meg if you have icq i can icq it to you. My icq number is 101525706.

Thanks again Spectre, Numb! I use MSN messenger, and to tell you the truth, dont know if they allow files to be passed through their buddy system (ICQ).

Spectre, if you have some files you could send I'd appreciate it, figured email might be a problem, since each ISP has diff rules about size of atttachments.

Thanks to all who tossed out some info or websites to check out. Just wandered across the 'official' website for CS and came to a fix that they claim works, and involves an unistall, download of 1 file (cs1001.exe) - reinstall, then apply the new file, and that's it....I'll let you know!

I am back on-line...thanks again to all who helped, Of course I won't have much time this week to play - t least I know I'm up again. Now I gotta figure out how best to tweak my 56k to lower the ping and be able to kill with the best of them!
