Questions on importing settings from XP installed programs to Win 7 on a dual boot

So I have Win 7 and XP, and I thought that I would be able to boot into XP and use programs like Chrome, Firefox, Thunderbird etc without any issues but I guess not. For example i ran Thunderbird from the XP drive it's installed on while running Win 7 and it basically runs like it's the first time you ever ran the program. Chrome is the same way, nothing is saved. Is there any way to import settings across OS's?

You would have to copy your profiles over.
