I really like Spydercos

I know there's a few knife nuts here. It was a nice day so I took a few pics of my favorites. I 've been on a Spyderco kick lately. Great knives.

The hell is the orange one for, gutting bears?

I love my old Delica but Gerbers are still what I bring to work every day.

Are the grey and orange ones aluminum grips?

Nice looking blades

It's actually foliage green, but with the bright sun it's a bit muted. The orange is the Military and a bit big yes, but it carries rather well. Both the Military and Paramilitary have scales made of G10. It's some sort of resin/fiberglass material that is pretty much impervious to most anything. Really nice stuff.

I like Spydercos but being a lefty I like to be able switch the clips over. I also jjust like griptillians by Benchmade. Never had a blade last as long as one of those. I lose them before I sharpen them. Not too long after needing to sharpen them either

A few new knives but only 1 Spydie. Dragonfly with G10 scales. Here's a pic of that and another pic of my Sage with some Tabasco peppers from the garden.

A couple new Traditional Trappers & a Case Swayback Jack

..and a Benchmade Blackwater 16707 with G10 scales

Very reasonably priced.
I like the clip, I like the action, I love the edge.
Like the half and half blade.

Fits the hand well.
Light weight.

About 5 years old and still my favorite.

I picked the peppers about 3 weeks a go and snapped a few picks before they became hot sauce.

That Gerber is nice. There are quite a few snobs that turn their nose up at anything south of $100 but if they work and you actually use them then I say great! Some of my best EDCs are inexpensive.

EDC..Every Day Cutter?

I know there are a lot of knives out there that I'd love...and that cost a lot more.

So far, haven't found one yet that I'd prefer

Edit, see now EDC= every day carry.

I know what you mean. Most of my daily knives are well below $100 and perform perfectly. I do have other more expesive ones but I just stick with what works and keep the others in a drawer.

Question to your and Mr. 'neck....why buy the expensive ones if the cheap ones are what you end up using?

My old Spyderco is worth 2x my evrey day Gerber but the Gerber is by far my knife of choice.

Don't get me wrong. My more expensive knives are much nicer to use and have a better balance and feel. Let's say the more expensive ones sit at my bedside and near the front door in case of problems.

And I'd put that up against almost anything including my Chris Reeve Shadow IV. Mine has a paracord handle (unlike the one in the picture)

It's a hobby but in reality a hobby of "tools". Some plain jane tools do the job just fine day in and day out and some tools do the job just as well if not better while looking damn good! If you want to explore that world spend some time at bladeforums. It's nothing for some folks to shell out $500 - $5000 on semi-customs and handmade art. I myself just can't and really don't want any safe queens anyway.

Me too. I got a Spyderco Delica 4 in my pocket. Its been through the wash a couple times and this thing still looks great. Sharp too.

When someone has a really nice knife collection people don’t seem to mind, if they have a gun collection they just flip out.

Different ballgames.

My neighbor's gun collection is more likely to have an impact on me than his knife collection. Never seen anyone flip out though.

I think both are pretty neat.

Delica V4 has the clipit screws tapped for 4 types of carry. Tip up Righty, Tip down righty, tip up lefty, tip down lefty. Since it is a lock back you do not need to worry about left hand carry right hand liner lock.

Grippys are nice but the only thing they have that is a cut above the delica is the axis lock. Steel wise Delica is better, handle material is the same both are FRN handles.

I own both but lately have carried neither. I've been carrying my Lone Wolf.
