I disagree, everything these people do is scripted, there is a motive behind taking this question.......maybe to soften the anger towards this President.....

I have yet to see or hear of any function tha Obama attends that isn't by special invitation and thoroughly scripted before hand.

saw it on the national news last night, he was laughing and smirking the whole time she was talking which besides him doing that the question was one that wasn't part of no script and why it made the national news since he got caught off guard.

Honestly dude it was already in the crapper when he took over. Bush ran it there. That said Obama hasn't done much to improve it.

You won't hear me denying the truth that he hasn't worked a miracle yet. I still put more blame on Bush because he completely destroyed what was there when he became President. I also think Bush's idea of permanent tax cuts while fighting two wars was stupid. That said I can't write off Obama yet when it comes to the economy although if it doesn't get better in a year he deserves a lot of blame. Ultimately I personally think it's unrealistic to fix a mess 8 years in the making in less then 2 years.

I feel absolutely no need to defend any Presidents of late but I do think that this administration and their disastrous healthcare plan will go down in history as one of the worst things ever to come out of DC.

No she didn't and who gives a rat's ass? She should anchor every prime time news org. That's the point...if it's beyond you, I'm sorry. She steamrolled the entire news community...in less than a minute.

That's exactly my take on it too....I read that title and I'm like "Oh boy..what's this going to be like". What a let-down! There was no "destroy and humiliate".

While I can't stand Obama anymore than the next guy, this video is nothing more than a question being asked...... where is the rest of the video with his response? Like most viral videos they only show the part they want you to see rather than the entire video so that everything is taken out of context..... how many times have we seen this happen? Too many. I want to hear his response.

President Obama has been a disappointment in many areas. I know he hasn't come through with several of the things that drove me to vote for him. It's quite possible depending on what he does the rest of this four year term and who Republicans nominate that I may not vote for him again.

I just listened to his response to her question.... nobody was made to look like a fool. Although I don't agree with his policies and point of view he did give a legit answer.

As I said, typical viral video where only one side of the story is shown.

Legit answer? lol Before I heard his reply I assumed that he'd offer his typical smug smile, offer platitudes, canned phrases, promised progress was being made somewhere over the rainbow, mention that "it will take time", and say something to the effect of, "I feel your pain!". It was a pretty good assumption. :)

Obama and his teleprompter had better start practicing their concession speech, since unlike Clinton, he has way to much hubris to move to the center and try and get himself a second term.

I agree with mnosteele. Although I see what you guys are saying about his smile I'm not sure exactly what he was supposed to do when someone is ripping the job he did. Obviously you don't want him to be condescending, but smiling is better then getting all nasty towards her in return?

As for Obama's chances in 2012. That's impossible to know at this point no matter how bad he is doing.

Probably a nervous how the hell did she get through the screening process chuckle more than anything else. I have no idea how I'd react if I got lambasted like that on National TV, but I'd probably nervously laugh to.

I would be surprised if most wouldn't nervously laugh. It was a great remark on her part I just don't know how he could have answered appropriately without upsetting someone. She essentially voiced what a lot of voters think when someone they voted for isn't doing what they thought they would.

I watched the full version before I made my comments. Two things come to mind...he's lying about one thing. He hasn't made the NECESSARY change that would prevent another bubble from being created and thus collapsing in on itself. The derivatives market is still unregulated. It's gambling anyway you slice it. that's what caused the meltdown.

Second point I want to make is from the gentleman that was criticizing Obama for feeling as if all businesses were being made to feel as though they were criminals or dogs...now this is key...this dude said that a strong democracy is tied in directly to the economy. That is patently and fundamentally FALSE!!!! But again, no one in the media is going to challenge it. Democracy and economies are two entirely different animals but what we've seen over the last century is the corruption of both through their mergers. Corporations fund campaigns and buy candidates and votes. The road goes in both directions. For our Republic to survive, we have to get big business out of government and government out of big business. Now that doesn't mean that business can go unregulated or that consumers can go unprotected but what it does mean is that this infusion of business into government, especially as it relates to domestic and foreign policy, needs to be removed!

The American public is being tasked to cover corporate losses that they have no stake in. My stake is an America...and it's with a thing called a vote. I have no stake in Haliburton, or in Goldman Sachs, Lehman, etc. That's why I was fully against the bailout. I have NO duty whatsoever to bailout failed companies...nor do you.

and what do you say to those who make the assertion that Obama saved the American car industry, they say that without them [auto bailouts] our economy would really have collapsed, look at all the jobs they saved by doing so.

Don't get me started on that one...... they dug their own grave and should have failed. Over paid workers, crappy cars, not reinvesting in their own companies, completely mismanaged..... yet my tax dollars bailed them out..... they didn't deserve it.

Roughly one million jobs in the mid-West, the backbone of our manufacturing sector. He had to do it.

The workers were a part of the problem, not as much as the mismanagement. "Overhaul" is on my reading list, should be fun.
