Tribes 2....Is it worth buying?
I'm wondering if I should buy it. Has anyone played it?? If so, do you recommend it? I'm looking for a good Multi-player game, since CS is getting boring to me. (i know its hard to bealive.) Also, if you know any good sites that have a review for it, let me know!

Here are my specs:Originally posted by Roody:
i know that remark wasnt made to me, but ill post my specs anyway, and hopefully you can help me out also
PII 400 Mhz
V2 12MB Video
256 MB RAM
1ghz tbird
256mb pc133@143 2-2-2
32mb geforce2 gts/pro @220/410
with this system i average about 45fps at 1024x768x16 with all the eye candy at maximum. When i had a voodoo3 2000 I would average about 15fps with the same settings. Don't buy it unless your planning to do some serious upgrading. If you have the system for it then the game freakin rocks.
Macho, no idea how you can think CS is team oriented, it's everyone by them self and teamwork is not needed in CS. In Tribes and Tribes2 a teak with teamwork will beat a team where everyone wants to be a hero. I would recommend it, I can run 1024x768 with all Eyecandy on a Duron 800, Geforce 2 GTS, 128 ram and Cable modem.

CS has no teamwork? Yeah right, the team that sticks together and moves fast always stomps the team of loners unless the loner team is comprised of veteran players.
It's the same situation in tribes. Some games have players with teamwork, while some others dont.
The problem I had is that "NO" tribes games I saw showcased any semblence of teamplay. I played at least 3 dozen games online in the few days that I had it, before taking it back, and they were all chaotic, free for all, lets-get-in-the-transport-and-crash-into-a-mountain battleroyals from start to finish.
I remember first playing CS. By my second game I was covering teammates, sniping incoming enemies that were chasing teammates, using suppresive fire to clear the way for the team, using smoke grenades ( and so were others ) to provide cover, defending positions with support.
All people were doing in 36 games of online T2 was fly around and shoot discs at various groups of enemies or grab a jet and strafe (inaccurately) at enemies until they crashed...teamwork my nut.

CS=Team Work
If you run out by yourself, yea you might get a few kills, but if the opposite team sticks together, you shoot one guy then you got 10 other guys blastin at you.

The game wasn't that great if you ask me. I play just about every game out there and it was inferior to UT and not nearly as team oriented as CS.
Kind of a go between game if you ask me that doesnt really do anything spectacularly, but rather does everything on an average level.
If you are new to the tribes universe I wouldnt recommend it. Learning curve is harsh and it is way slower than other online shooters.
And any game that makes me feel like I have to upgrade my [H]ard system so soon gets two nuts down in my book.

hmmm and they say "size doesnt matter"Originally posted by 3v1l807:
Don't buy it Roody. With your system specs you will have to use the lowest gfx settings to play it and it will look worse than T1 =/
Wait until WickedGL releases their miniGL with T2 support then it might work pretty good for you.

Tribes 2 is all about teamwork, although it is hard to coordinate, but you have to see, some people can naturally ski faster, somepeople are really good with vehicles, all those allow some to get to the enemy base faster. In CS, yeah u can move in a pack, but if someone purposely avoids it, you are screwed, especially if a pack of 10 guys is avoided by a pack of like 6 guys, and that can happen, happens to me A LOT, then they free the hostages, do this, do that, blah, blah, blah, and those 6 guys, you can have 4 of them jump the 10 and kill them all if they are good. ANd the remaining 2 guys do there thing, CS is really not that hard to ambush a whole group, and for Tribes and Tribes 2, only if you are against a wall in a narrow passage (you being a heavy) and shooting mortars when they appear is about the only way you can take out a group, or if you have a tank in their base or something really outrageous.
CS really is a quick and easy games, for T1 and T2, you get really good, and you can kick ass, but you have to have teamwork, unless you can run like a b@stard!
CS is great, i totally agree, but you know, teamwork is essential, but if you have 10 out of your 15 players on a team go in a pack, and in a large map, the enemy keeps 8 at their base and sends 7 to your base, avoids the pack ot 10 guys, and slaughters the 5 at your base and does their thing, easy as that...... then you have a this 12-14 guy vs. 10 people mugging with the 10 surrounded (because the remainder of the 7 comes back at them) and the 8 at the base coming to you in enemy territory!
It's really pretty hard to coordinate teamwork in Tribes, but it IS essential, like if you have 5 guys base raping, of course it is easier to grab the flag!

CS used to be team-oriented
don't get me wrong, team play is still a sure way to win, but 99% of servers i'm on consists mainly of lone-gunman deathmatch. barely anyone ever rescues the hostages anymore, it seems like it is all to much centered on highest FRAG count, not number of games won... sheesh, it used to be fun too
