Rainbow 6, where do saved files register?

Post by varus300 »

Ive been using ver 1.4 in R6 for a long time, i had to change network buffer size in constants so my game wont crash every 10 seconds on multiplayer, so i could go to constants.txt and make changes to it, save it and all done.

Now they made ver 1.9 which makes my game not run if i make any changes to constants. But how does it know that i made changes to it? even if i put everything the way it was still game does not run. SO I FIGURED THAT WHEN I OPEN CONSTANTS.TXT THROUGH NOTE PAD, MAKE CHANGES TO IT, SAVE IT, THEN IT REGISTERS SOMEWHERE IN SOME FOLDER THAT I MADE CHANGES TO THIS FILE AND SAVED IT, JUST LIKE COOKIES EVERY WEBSITE U GO TO IT REGISTERS IN COOKIES BUT YOU CAN ERASE ANYTHING THERE.
Maybe i can do same thing with the constants.txt file where it registers when i save it so i can erase or change it so it wont know that i made any changes to it. IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE THE SAVED FILES REGISTER OR HOW TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM...
PLEASE REPLY.........

Thanks :p

most likely the game looks at the file and sees it defferent that it should be, or different than the others and says NOPE, sorry!, thats my opinion, i dunno, havent played it for a long time now.

Hmmmm
I dont think that game looks at the file and sees it different, because even if i change the file exactly back the way it was.... sometimes not even change it back i copy paste that file from the original CD, still nothing. plus its not the game that looks at the file its the 1.9 patch that knows -- THAT I CHANGED CONSTANTS.TXT FILE EVEN IF THE 1.9 PATCH IS NOT EVEN INSTALLED YET--
So when i install 1.9 it just knows that i ever opened constants.txt and made changes to it and saved it (even if i put it back the way it was)

Im really curious how it works

the 1.9 patch is a patch to stop people from cheating online during gaming. It deals specifically with the constants. Any changes in it and you'll have to redownload everytime you log on to mplayer. There's nothing you can do about it. As for disconnecting try moving your nic card to a different slot if you got it. Maybe that will help.

I play on MSN Gaming Zone, there i dont need to redownload or anything i can play with any changes in constants, and i've tried everything with my network card its just crappy, and decreasing network buffer in constants is the only way i can play R6... i was told by few people in R6 rooms that they have same problem as me with their old network cards, and they are looking for the way to solve this problem with 1.9 patch too...
