Interesting.. Bootmanager on bootable floppy disk allows booting from USB

Post by Shinobi »

I heard about this on a while back... on my old happy Pentium 3 I wanted to boot from a USB flash drive, but the BIOS does not support booting from a USB flash drive. I then came across PloP bootmanager http://www.plop.at/en/bootmanager.html . I was able to "rawwrite" the PloP image to a floppy then the have the computer boot from the floppy disk. And that brings up a graphic boot manager on the floppy disk. I'm then able to select USB, and the boot manger loads an UHCI (Universal Host Controller Interface) driver and I am able to boot from any USB flash drive. Pretty awesome.

Hi Ken... yes indeed. :)

Some people have been recently offering me their old computers that they were going to toss out. I figure that I can still make good use out of them.
