Several methods...some of which are...
*If you have a VPN appliance at the office, you can setup a VPN account for you..remote in from home..and then connect to the LAN IP of your server using RDP (most secure)
*Or you can open/forward port 3389 on your office router, to the LAN IP of your server...and then RDP to the public IP of your office network. (potential to not be as secure....if you don't use a good Admin password)
*Install gotomypc or logmein on your server.

YeOld ( Hi old friend ) Nailed it ..... VNC is also a free VPN software that if your server is Linux normally comes preinstalled.

But you may need to open certain ports in your firewall to allow the connectivity.

I use PCAnywhere to login to my PC at work then dual remote via Putty/Remote Desktop/VNC ( Depending on the server I'm accessing ).

This way I can act just as I'm sitting at my desk with all of my files and administrative tools.

The one thing I prefer PCA over GotoMyPC is if I recall GTMPC is a monthly fee. PCA is a one time cost but We've had PCA for a long time .... I don't even know if it's still available. lol

Heya MyTee...long time...

Yeah I used to use PcAnywhere and *VNC prior to XP and 2K3 server....I hadn't used PcAnywhere in over...wow..5 years probably, and 2 weeks ago had to go install it at a client because their accountant use it to remote in. I was wondering to myself why the heck they still used that software...so many newer, faster, and firewall neutral...alternatives out there.

LogMeIn (similar to GTMyPC) has a free version. ;)

LoL I saw your post in another forum after posting this.....

We have very few Win2k3 Servers.... Mostly we are a Novell shop using linux and Netware ( phasing out the Netware now actually ). I may have to check into the "LogMeIn" if it will connect to my desktop securely at work where I have all of my Admin tools and helps me avoid our VPN client which means I need my Admin tools on my laptop.

PCA Speeds are indeed miserable..... Especially when double Remoting and having to hit F5 to get my screen updates. lol
