Need a decent gaming headset w/ mic
For around 30 dollars or less (up to 40-45ish if the value is worth the cost). I just need the ability to talk to in-game people with a mic, and I'd also like the headset to play music decently with a good bass response.
Any ideas? The main ones I've been looking into are Plantronics .Audio sets, although I've generally had good experience with Sony and Logitech in the past. The main things I am hearing about the Plantronics are that they are not very comfortable or that the mic is over-sensitive or something, with the listening quality of the phones being very good.
I'm not sure what to do.

I have a Medusa headset for a primary but your looking to pay over 120$ for it but its the best and lifetime warranty
For a backup I've got a Plantronics which works pretty well and this one fits above your price range slightly but you get what you pay for.

Sava - Sweet. Lifetime warranty definitely interests me. So it's the Medusa NX USB 5.1 Gaming Headset? And how can I get such a warranty with it?
YoS - Haha the Basshunter headset! I'm actually quite interested in this Siberia v2 now.
So the Medusa and Siberia v2 both interest me, as well as the Razer Carcharias and Steelseries 4h. Another possiblity is the Sennheiser PC151, I heard some good things about those. I decided I'm gonna just spend some money on this and not have to replace my headset down the road or be disappointed with it. I suppose I'll just keep reading reviews and searching online for good deals!
-edit: Damn, now I'm getting intrigued by all these 5.1 surround-sound headsets! Haha... I just keep wanting better and better... before I know it I'll end up buying a 300 dollar headset!

Yeah that's it I have the Medusa 5.1 ProGamer Edition V2 which the NX USB 5.1 seems to have replaced it. As for the warranty they replaced mine after a year of use for free all from a little pc of plastic on the band that broke... I did have to pay shipping to get it to them but a few bucks wasn't a problem and I was more than glad to get a free replacement! You just have to contact them and explain your situation.fixationdarknes wrote:Sava - Sweet. Lifetime warranty definitely interests me. So it's the Medusa NX USB 5.1 Gaming Headset? Cool, thanks!
But... I've got a problem! I'm trying out this mic my dad let me use before purchasing a headset, and I can't even get it to work. I've tried both the front and back panel, have messed with multiple input jacks after having set them to "Mic," have messed with all the mixing boards and all say the mic is 100% volume, enabled, mic boosted, all that lovely stuff, and it will not work. I've tested in game and using Windows troubleshooting tests -- does not work. So annoying! I know for a fact the mic works on my dad's computer, but software-wise something is not allowing the mic to work!
I don't even know what to do right now. FFFFFffff

what kinda mic? is it just plug and play? Perhaps just going through and checking any software that uses it to see if something has disabled it.fixationdarknes wrote:Cool, thanks!

The one that i have as you can see in the picture of the ends are all connections for each 5.1 hookup. Center, front, rear, surround and sub... then it has a USB connection for powering the headset along with a center wire controller for on and off switch to the mic and volume adjustments.fixationdarknes wrote:Hm, well I got it to work actually. Turns out the converter thing that you stick on the end of plugs that are too big to make them smaller was mono, and I needed a stereo one. Well anyway, would these headsets have stereo inputs (or would it be outputs)?
