Need help with security ASAP!!!!

Post by yurij_14 »

Okay I've tried using the Sygate and the ZA Firewalls. Now I use a satelite connection provided by Look Communications. In order to access it I have a program that runs every time I start my computer. It sits in the taskbar with three icons.
The first is a box with 3 green lights which means the network box is working and is responding. Red lights would mean it isn't working.
The next icon is a phone. This on I can click on on;y if the network lights are green and I can connect. It goes green when it connects.
The last one is a globe and it automatically goes green when you connect and red if you can't connect.

Now the problem I had with installing the Firewall software was that this interface wouldn't work. I mean I couldn't click on any of my icons and t he lights were white??? So as soon as I un-installed it, it worked again. Any ideas of how I can get around this. If someone needs a copy of the program to see what i'm talking about let me know....

Let me know about any alternatives or solutions.

All you need to do is configure ZoneAlarm properly to allow the program.
Try reading ZDNet's setup guide and
this PCWorld guide.
You could also try the FAQ pages at ZoneLabs.
Try emailing ZoneLabs and asking what their suggestions are They appear to be quite responsive these days.
I would suggest that apart from any other configuring you do, set all programs in the ZA list to "ASK". That way you will be in the know if a program wants to access the net.
Croc.
It will be long, it will be hard and there will be no withdrawal.

Did you set Zone Alarm to let this program of yours access the internet. Because if you didnt it wont allow it to communincate. Try that and then post the results.
Windows has not yet detected a keyboard. Press any key to continue.

Is the connection up and down via satelite or is it what is on offer where I live....
Upload... Telephone line
Download... Satelite.
The service here is not very reliable and that came from the salesman for the service at a shopping centre display.
I can't see a difference in configuration, after all the protection supplied by ZA is before the line out which is the same as dialup, DSL etc.
I wonder if speed would come into the question.
I would ask ZoneLabs.
