Downloads do not work .

Post by MTAG »

Since around May i cannot download ANY file from ANY server, and i do not know why.
I may have used TuneUp 2009 which has changed some internet settings

It would say it was completed after downloading 1/100th of the file...

I tried to use tcp optimizer, which i'm not sure really if i have used it properly..

Now when I try to download maybe a small file e.g 5mb, it will start to save it, get to maybe 1mb then say it is complete, this happens with larger files too , e.g i try 50mb file, downloads say 27mb then says it is complete.
Also sites like youtube will not work, they generally play 15 secs then stop.

This is not an issue with a certain website, it happens with any.

So tcp optimizer has helped a little but i still cannot download a full file.

I run also a home network which is only my pc xp, and laptop xp, and this DOES NOT happen with my laptop in the network, it is only happening with the main pc which also has the router connected to it,

Are there any settings that need changed because i really think maybe it has something to do with the tcp settings as since i used the optimizer it has improved a small bit..

I tried the version 1.2 of this, and it has made no difference.

FYI Downloads work fine on my laptop , just not the pc.

I have tried this, but it said i have latest.

FYI Once i ran the winsockfix it went back to saying it was complete straight away without even downloading any of the file. (only 1KB was downloaded)

(if i run tcp optimizer idownloads will start to work for some of the file, ie maybe 5mb downloaded, but it will NEVER complete) <<< but i am not going to run optimizer unless you say !!!

Hi,

After a few things i have tried,
I seemed to be getting downloads working now, after uninstalling zone alarm pro, which i would never have blamed.. But everything seems ok, and i can download, BUT very slow..

Here is the analyser you asked for.

Maybe you can help me with the speed issue please??

Also, i am on Plus.net adsl internet up to 8Mb broadband package.

Ok, downloads seem to still be working, i have also changed the values.

I have not noticed a small increase in speed..

Speedtest shows

4153 kbps down (~4.15 Mbps, 507 KB/s) ↓
376 kbps up (~0.38 Mbps, 46 KB/s) ↑

TBH I have seen better but this is much better than i have been getting recently and it may just be the time of the day as well..

I hope my downloads continue to work.

Here is a new analyzer test.
