blebs,
Is Ad-Aware Defunct? Their web site at
http://www.lavasoft.de/ spewed file and server "not found" messages for
a week, and now gives only a generic "Hier entsteht eine neue
Internetprasenz!" (or, loosely, "Here comes a new site...".)

I think You can still get the software from a variety of download sites (see
http://www.google.com/search?q=ad%2Daware ) but the parent company may
be dead. If anyone has a lead on their whereabouts, please let us all know.

Nope, Lavasoft is not defunct. I got Ad Aware 4.6 earlier today and it said updated 040601. Maybe they aren't quite ready to relaunch the site until tomorrow, though it wouldn't make sense since I got my copy today.
Prey, did it work for you right after I first posted? I know it's not right now, but keep checking-they are there, but I don't know whats up right now! :o In fact they posted that they were glad that they finally had the site back up earlier.

Hey, the link worked fine for me earlier today, they must be having intermittent problems or something. I wouldn't mind sending it to anyone that needed it, just let me know :)

As of 6:30 am EDT-AD AWARE and Lavasoft are operational. I have just downloaded version 4.6 set up files again, in case the site should go back down and someone would like a copy! :D

Had to Remove previous adaware version, otherwise kept getting 'corrupt file' after downloading.

Works great, found 2 I never heard of before.

Isn't it amazing! I found 3 more that I didn't know of and a total of 12 cookies. Almost can't wait to see what version 5.0 does. :D

Hey blebs
Thanks for the info...uninstalled the previous version and installed the new version, and it found "flycast" and "valueclick", where the hell did these come from?
JEEZ!!!
I have added them to my restricted sites in IE (.com and .net) and that should take care of my not seeing them on my PC in the future.
These SOB's will do anything to mess with people.
