HELP!!! In dire need of assistance!!!

Post by coolio6215 »

Hello,

Okay, so this is how it starts. On monday, i was looking for a live streaming link for a sporting event. In the process, i clicked on a link and immediately, my antivirus quarantined two viruses. I thought my computer would be fine however it wasn't. On the same day, when i restarted the computer, my firewall gave me messages about blocking 5 programs that i had previously never seen. I ran the antivirus multiple times after, got rid of around 20 viruses/tojans (vesloruki, microjoin, etc). I found the files of the blocked programs and got rid of them too. My firewall never showed me those programs again. I ran antivirus several times, but it didnt catch anything else. Everything seemed to be fine until i did a search on google. Any result that i clicked on would redirect me to other random sites. Over a two-day period, i kept trying to look for solutions to this problem. On the third day (today, Wednesday), i started my computer to find that i was getting an svchost.exe error message and the generic host process win32 error message. I think this may also be due to a trojan/virus. This disallows me from using the internet at all in normal mode. I have XP 2005 media centre edition sp3. My antivirus is still not picking up anything. The only way i use the internet now is through safe mode with networking. I am seriously contemplating reformatting and would gladly take any other suggestions as it is a time-consuming and hectic process. Oh and i tried system restore but it did not work and gave me the message: Could not revert back to system checkpoint, nothing has changed on your computer.

Thanks,
Atif

P.S. My virus protection software is called Rogers Online Protection (Rogers is my ISP)
