Man do I think I'd avoid Geek squad after watching this... I'd never recommend them!

I'm glad I don't have to rely on someone to fix my computer problems. ;) :crash:

yeah I was like wow on that too... prob charge them 200$ for a 500Gig drive then 70$/hour for about 5hours work reloading it. Start with Vista Gold, install SP1 and then all updates from a 56k dialup connection.

Thanks, the video links drive me nuts. I can read fairly well and I don’t need my news spoon fed me.

I haven't met very many good Geek Squad techs...more often then not, I get calls from people getting their machines back from them without being fixed

We had a computer brought to use after Geek Squad failed attempts to fix it, it still had their "top secret" CD full of Geek Squad tools in the cd-rom.

In reality though, Geek Squad is widespread, high profile, so botched attempts at fixing get media profile such as this, because of their high profile. All in all, how well a computer is fixed is down to the individual who is fixing it, that person could be working anywhere at any local mom 'n pop shop.

Wise ol' Cat

I found a copy via online, and the curious cat that I am, checked it out-- Not my preference of tools :nope:

The first thing these guys are trained to do, is to check ribbon cables and power cables. Sounds like this store was looking for a quick sale, and got caught. The thing is.. how many times has this sort of thing have happened
before?

Sounds like the same scam and issues you have with getting a car fixed. A few bad apples at a company can ruin a reputation.

Get the internet. Try to be informed.

It's happened many times before Geek Squad was even around. Techs are just people...and the quality of people vary, no matter where you go.

<insert the current big chain computer store name of your choice here> just happens to be a huge chain, and get the publicity..good or bad.

You guys should see the clueless tech I used to deal with. I had to tell him what to do most of the time.
