Small Business Network Consultant....yeah, most days it's good.
I basically design/install/support networks for small businesses. Every type of small business out there, law firms, dentist offices, oil companies, accountants, health care, foundations, doctors offices, yacht brokers, golf resorts, restaurants, real estate, small schools, literally any office/business that you drive by..that has somewhere from 10-100 computers.
No stuck behind a cubicle from 9-5, no time clock to punch. Just 3x of us in a small LLC. Work from home in the morning, hit the road to do some onsites mid-morning, drive around to different clients, meet 'n work with different people all the time. Fun stuff.

Surveyor.
Sometimes real cool, like when I'm miles from anything resembling civilization. Sucks when I'm up to neck in Gotti/Razor's edge mastiff/pit mixes and breached sewer lines.
I get to think on my feet and I run all the crews, so day-to-day stuff is mine to control. Pay sucks, work environment is great....meh.

You've been at the same place for 30 years?

Not an actual picture of where I work (no pictures allowed), but close enough. I work in a clean room. I build parts that go on Satellites. I like it a lot, very interesting. Our parts go everywhere. Even to NASA.

I'm a cook. I love it to death - I get to work with food every day, to taste new things... the 'career' (as it is) allows for job hopping without any real penalty for doing so (one year stints in a restaurant are considered 'long')... it's a great environment to work in.
So trade that typical for something colorful, and if it's crazy live a little crazy!
That sounds wild!!CoolJ wrote:Not an actual picture of where I work (no pictures allowed), but close enough. I work in a clean room. I build parts that go on Satellites. I like it a lot, very interesting. Our parts go everywhere. Even to NASA.
