That doesn't make sense... it would most likely be in the Mediterranean.

The land bridge from Spain to Africa that used to exist was crushed causing the Atlantic ocean to flow in at the same time and from the same earth quake that destroyed much of the city anyway. That picture could be viewed as anything really... I mean look at other lines along the ocean floors and you can imagin anything there.

Plus Atlantis was a island and not just a city... your more likely to view one of the submerged islands from a volcanic chain than a odd looking bunch of lines forming a square on the ocean floor.

:nope:

That location is one of the top choices for people looking for the fabled city....west of Africa, off the Canary islands.

Those line are quite squared and perpendicular...too much to be natural on a scale that massive. Quite intriguing IMO.
Google is stating it's from artifacts by boats using sonar to map the ocean floor by doing grid patterns, not a real image.

Very possible.. who knows but I hardly think that square amount of lines are it.

Whatever it is.... it looks cool. It's also damn big! I hope they do some up-close work to find out more about it.

Thanks Burke.

Isn't that also very close to where the game Indiana Jones IV - The Fate of Atlantis placed it, according to some hint from Plato?

The structure sure doesn't look natural. Also, it does not look like a grid enough for Google's explanation, I think. However, it does look totally oversized for a single city though. Look at the scale of it... it's almost as big as say Belgium, or South Carolina. Looks like it's worth a dive though.

Hardly Burke.. I think your foil hat is on too tight.

I'm just thinking about some paper I did on it back in high school and a few quick searches on the subject.

But again I hardly think google earths view of those lines are it.

I mean I could be wrong..the many years of it settling could have caused some sort of mark on the ocean floor but it has to be at the end or middle of some sort of active island chain.

Look to the right of those lines and you see more lines.. more squares.. follow the other oceans and you see more and more.. the lines are not part of the ocean floor..just something from googles view. Look to the left of Ireland and you will see many many more lines...

Stating what it "was" is not applicable, it was, after all, just a myth, legend, etc.

It was "reported", by myth, to be a city that rose up out of the sea...one could surmise that logically it was a city built on top of an island.

Looks like google is offering an explanation.
Google said the area mentioned in The Sun article reflects a mixture of bathymetric data from sonar and satellite altimetry, which provides an estimate of the ocean floor topography based on wave height. The intersection of these two data sets, which don't align perfectly, is what produces the appearance of a street grid. Similar grid lines can be found in other parts of the ocean where the sea floor has yet to be completely mapped, such as near Hawaii.
Makes sense, would rather think it's Atlantis though.

Figured thats all it was.. I mean if you really took the time and looked over the whole ocean floor with it you can see lines everywhere as I said up a few posts.

link?

Notice how they immediately use disinfo or not by now placing the story in a tabloid. Now it is anyone's guess.....

Cover-up.

It's a city and it has lots and lots of gold in it and they don't want anyone to get it but them. Google also says that sheep don't talk and if they did they'd never lie. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!!!!
