That will be pretty sweet. here is the next system I am getting (probably in a few months.) I might make a change in the CPU depending on if AMD releases a faster chip

CPU: 1.33 GHz AMD w/266 FSB
Mother Board: ASUS A7M266
Ram: 256 Megs PC2100 DDR RAM
Video Card: GeFORCE 3 (open for suggestions)
CD-RW: Plextor 16/10x/32x
Network Card: 3-com 10/100 cards
Sound Card: SB Live!
Hard-Drive: West. Dig. 9.1GB SCSI 10000rpm
Power Supply: 300-watt power supply
Case: full tower with a lot of cooling
OS: Windows 2000 professional

I will be the happiest SOB around if I end up with that system

EDIT: 17'' flat screen monitor. havent picked out the model. just going to use some existing Altec Lansing speakers. Saving DVD for later.

Agree.....
It hurts your wallet the most when you get the stuff that it just came out such as the 1.33Ghz CPU

hell yeah, sony trinitrons ROCK!

monitors are a major monkey wrench in my plans to put together a new box. currently use a 17 inch sony trinitron, now that ive used one i feel the need to get anothe one. thing is, these monitors cost more then the computer itself.

probably end up buying a samsung and swap monitors.

I just wanted to offer my humble opinion to anths. I think alot of what you're buying is a waste of money. First of all the scsi hard drive is BARELY faster then the ibm deskstar. Maybe in benchmarks you'll see the differance, but you'll never FEEL a difference. My other comment has to do with your yamaha burner... THEY SUCK!! A friend of mine bought a scsi yamaha a while back and it barely lasted him 9 months. He had to return it TWICE before it was fixed. Okay, perhaps it was an unlucky burner. But it still sucks because it doesnt have REAL overburn protection like the plextor does. Speaking of plextor, this same friend with the yamaha got pissed off and bought a plextor 8432 for 300 and he LOVES IT. He's had it for at least 8 months and it'll burn anything. The only side note is you should buy a scsi plextor. He spoke to plextor tech support and even they said that the ide burners really arent very good. One last thing. You might want to check out the 1.33 thunderbirds a little more. I've read in a couple of places the 1.2 is a better deal and the 1.33 is rather unstable. I dont know if it's true, but the source(dont remember) was rather reliable.

Yards... congradulations for your friend!!

alright... remind me never to let anyone touch my computer again. They changed the hard drive that I had listed. I am not getting a new hard drive. I currently have 2 IBM 19.1 GB ata-66 in RAID-0 that I will be switching over to the new computer. They are pretty fast and do the job very very nicely! And also, I said that I will not be getting this system for a few months (i.e 4-5 maybe even 6 months). Prices will have dramatically dropped and any glitches should have been fixed by then. I am not a dumbass that sees a new product and goes and buys it, I am just planning in the long term and thought I would get the expert opinion :) .

ALSO: onetrueday, I believe I said I will be getting a PLEXTOR burner. I have never liked Yamaha anything and don't plan on buying any Yamaha in the near future.
Peace,
Anthony

pesonally never had a bad or hard time with yamaha, and my friend does like plextor, he doesnt want a burner using the cd space for the protection, so its his choice! and i believe the 1.33s are running stable now, checking into it...
