My sister in Law was playing on my pc yesterday. When I went back to it this morning, the souds were not working. The task bar Speaker Icon is not appearing. When I go into the sound & Multimedia Properties under the Audio tab, no "Preferred devices" are selected. I use the drop down menu and select what was there before, click apply, and windows clears the field again. Now, I've re-installed the sound drivers and this doesn't seem to work.
I'm running Window ME and have onboard PCI sound card. Also, using system restore is not an option as I disabled it a long time ago. Can someone please help me in getting this working again.
