XP doesn't see ThinkPad hdd- disable AHCI

Post by ghettoside »

ThinkPad T60P (type 8744), 100Gb SATA hdd.

Partitioning tools (partition magic, paragon, acronis) see the hdd and can work w/ it, but then trying a clean install of XP, kept getting an error that no hdd is connected and setup aborts.

several guys have looked at it over the past week. I tried it today, then went into bios and started poking around. Found AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) enabled, changed it to IDE (compatability) mode and that resolved the problem.

thought this might be useful
