Implementation/use of 2 monitors
Implementation/use of 2 monitors
I've been wondering about this for a long time now. I always thought that it would slow down your computer to be sending out info for two displays.
I only know about this to the point where you have two vid cards and two monitors and the init display that smaier was talking about. I can understand all that. But, do the screens show the exact same thing.
I heard that you can view two different windows? Again, wouldn't that severely slow down your system?
All and any help appreciated. Thanks.

Ok, I'm going to give it a shot.
But, I don't have a spare "new" video card to add in. The video card would probably a PCI card, from a 486 or a Pentium 100.
Is it still going to be worth it?

I have a 100MHz FSB (is my agp bus running at the same rate?) and I think the video card is coming from a 66MHz FSB (would the pci bus be the same?).
Would adding this older PCI card slow down my PCI bus?
Thanks a bunch. -el bob

Get a new nVidia dual head vid card. Like the Geforce2 Dual Head GTS or MX. Support for dual monitors with one card.

nightowl, that is exactly what I have in the Pentium 100 computer.
Diamond Stealth 64 Video PCI 2 MB VRAM
So, if I use this one, I should be alright? If I do, all I have to do to set it up software wise is just to make sure that the original agp card is the primary video card?
Thanks. -el bob

Hey, el bob. You can set 2 vid cards on two monitors, and just use extened desktop so you can use 2 monitors, and they don't show the same thing. I just got my old Diamond Monster workin in my pc so i'm working on my site, and 3D work. And I havent noticed any slowdown in performance. Hope that helps
. Peace
