Games skip!

This is my system setup.
Fic VA-503+
AMDk6-2 305@400
128 PC100
HP cdwriter 9310i
maxtor diamond 6.4 9ms 5400
ATI Rage Fury w/tv out 32 meg
D-link 530 10/100
i/o magic 16 (old****)

Now in my games they skip for a little while. Do you think i could be having some hardware problems? Do you think it could be win2k pro?

Elaborate on skip.... whats goin on? Is the hard drive going when it does this?
Its not Win2k cause I use it and despite what some people say it is pretty good for games I play right now UT, Q3 NHL2001. IMO Q3 and UT play better than they played when I had 98SE as my OS.

well It seems that the hdd wants to work when ever i play q3 or midtown madness.
It plays fine after the game goes for a while
