Retro American Musclecars making the comeback

Post by YeOldeStonecat »

I'm really liking the throwback to the 60's look that the Detroit big 3 are doing with their musclecars.

Ford had 'em on the street first...with the Mustangs. A touch of the late 60's/early 70's Mach1/Boss look going on there.

Dodge has their Challengers currently hitting the streets...I've started seeing a couple around my parts over the past month. Very well done, all 4 sides looking great.

And Chevy coming soon with their Camaro....

My vote goes for the Challenger.

Been reading the base models of most of these are having V6 engines of 250-300hp.

Hemi Check!
Pistol Grip shifter Check!
Shaker Hood...I believe they plan on making it an option, else the dual snorkel hood isn't bad either. But yeah I'd take a shaker of that. :thumb:

I like the Cuda (they may as well have called it that since it looks more like one than a Challenger), but they are all nice retro cars done surprisingly well. I think the Camaro looks farthest from the original, but still you can tell the inspiration.

For me it goes Cuda, Camaro, and then Mustang. I think the Mustang is done well enough that it is no insult to it to have it be third. In terms of being closer to the original the order would have the Camaro last.

I still need to see a Camaro on the road to get a real idea of how it looks though.

On a side note having a Camaro be "Super Bee" in Transformers was just stupid. Super Bees are ridiculous looking cars, but they are cool (to me) for the over the top style and should have been used in the movie or a new interpetation of one. DON'T DIS THE SUPER BEE! :D

Now you just gotta hope GM is around in 2010 and the Camaro still alive.

Dodge made a Super Bee and a Rumble Bee, I know of no other Bee car made by Dodge.

While I favor Ford because of cheap and plentiful parts, the Dodge does have an old style Hemi Barracuda look to it, which I like alot. On a side note, I DO NOT like working on Dodges. They are engineered way different From Ford and Chevrolet in many ways. Just break off a left hand stud on a old Duster, on race day and you’ll know why.

A guy down the street just got one of the Challengers....so I frequently see it (and hear it) go by. Nice sounding too. Great lines to admire from all angles.

Just wait until one of those car modders figures out a way to stick an old school Hemi in one.

Probably have multiple eargasms over that.

LOL...yah. Last week YoS over IM was talking about a Viper engine based on. Guess they have a concept car out there (SRT variant?) with the Viper V12 stuffed in there. I Googled it and found a video....man...one insane car.
