Sound Blaster 5.1

Post by iBringPain »

I know this is not the forum for it but I would like to know if anyone has bought this sound card and did it come with "liveware 4.0" drivers?

I have the X-Gamer. I have never heard of SB 5.1. Are you talking about the Creative Labs 5.1 speakers? I was also unaware of the existence of liveware 4.

I think iBringPain is talking about the new SB Live card, which I don't think is even out yet.

The SB Live 5.1 is already out fellas. It looks pretty fat and would go awesome with my Dolby Digital Decoder and monster speakers. Can't wait to get it:

Whoops, I meant receiver, not decoder. I have the regular Sound Blaster Live Value hooked up to a Sony DD/DTS/THX Receiver. It sounds awesome, especially when playin EAX games and watchin DVD's, but with the new SB Live 5.1, it would really kick ass.

It's just a version of the SB Live Platinum.

It's not JUST a version Pest. This baby has a built in Dolby Digital Decoder. If your a modest PC user then you dont need it, but for a hard core DVD'r like me, it totally rocks. And when games start shipping with 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound, you'll really see what this baby can do.

I can't tell from their page, is the decoding done thru hardware or software? Someone told me it was done thru software. If it is, WTF is CL thinking. Besides this product is useless as only movies r currently encoded in DD 5.1 (not music or games).

Their site is misleading:
From Creative's site:
Sound Blaster® Live!™ Platinum 5.1 provides the best Dolby Digital 5.1 audio entertainment on your PC for movies, music, and games
How can u enjoy DD 5.1 sound in games and music when neither r not encoded in DD 5.1?
