Everyone else can read as well as we can Izzo.
I'm still waiting, pumpkin.
I've ask respectfully and I expect that to happen.Izzo wrote:No one to blame but yourself......but let's get this bitch back on topic ok everyone?![]()
If members here aren't stirring up problems then we get along just fine with them. Thankfully a high majority of the members here are very good members and don't look to cause problems. If they disagree with someone for the most part they do so respectfully.JC wrote:All B/S aside. The main problems with the general discussion forums is..... The Mods! I'm sorry if that hurts, but it's the truth.
I'm not suggesting that it's acceptable....I'm saying that the members are better at dishing out forum justice than a mod.Roody wrote:UOD I would support the idea of trying it if the flaming and insults weren't considered acceptable. I get your point and I do think some can handle that better then others, but ultimately I think it would be counter-productive to the site.
I have seen very few examples to support that theory actually. When members have no powers to do something to another member it comes down to insults really and that gets no one anywhere.UOD wrote:I'm not suggesting that it's acceptable....I'm saying that the members are better at dishing out forum justice than a mod.
Internal policing.
That's because you step in before it comes to a logical end.....someone will eventually give up and goto bed lol.Roody wrote:I have seen very few examples to support that theory actually. As I stated I have no problems with giving it a shot I just disagree with you on a few of the specifics regarding how to run it is all.UOD wrote:That's because you step in before it comes to a logical end.....someone will eventually give up and goto bed lol.
Sometimes people just need to blow off steam and then they get back to pallin around, except not with terrorists hehe.
I don't hold any grudge against JC whatsoever.
Right now, you have to intervene to maintain the APPEARANCE of civility because the forum is public. If you make it a private forum, things will be different.
I still don't understand the resistance because if it fails...it's one click to delete the forum and you get to have the last laugh and an I told ya so.
But if it succeeds....then what do you do?
it was just an observation,UOD wrote:Well, since you wouldn't be participating and you wouldn't see it because you don't want to participate....how would it affect you?
TBH, I don't think I have said how I wanted it to run (specifics) and I don't believe that you have stated anything either. I thought that would come later if it becomes a reality.Roody wrote:As I stated I have no problems with giving it a shot I just disagree with you on a few of the specifics regarding how to run it is all.![]()
I don't know if you are a premium member or not but this forum would only be able to be viewed and posted in by premium members.Dan wrote:it was just an observation,
and I can't say how it would effect me,
actually now that I think about it,watching all the childish bickering and name calling and chest puffing sad as it is,it's pretty entertaining to me.
yes, I keep my prem membership going,I just pay for it,no big deal,it's easy,I just use my fun money in my PP account.UOD wrote:I don't know if you are a premium member or not but this forum would only be able to be viewed and posted in by premium members.
So it would remove the mob mentality of watching.
you cant say whatever you like or someone may be offendedPhilip wrote:What about that freedom of speech ?
UOD wrote:how is that limiting it?
Just because we have topic separation doesn't mean free speech can't ensue.
Why do you have a separate automotive forum from the gen forum? Is that limiting free speech? No....it enhances it imo.
Randy wrote:Philthy may mean if you have to "pay" for premium membership you in turn pay to have a voice in the forum eh.
so its not really free f*cker
thats sh*ttyUOD wrote: no pics of poop, etc.![]()
Izzo wrote:No, it's not a business in the context DH suggested. I am not paying for any service nor am I receiving anything. It's a public forum just like 1000's of others. Don't fool yourself into believing this place is something special because it isn't.....it's just one out of a million. Thank him? You've got to be joking? You know just as well as I do that banning me wouldn't prevent me from posting.

Philip wrote:What I meant is... If we forbid political discussions in the General Forum and move it to a limited access "premium" forum that would make it inaccessible to the majority of non-premium users. There are also a number of readers who do not register or post that still benefit from the information on the forums.
Philip wrote:I've toyed with the idea of making a private forum for premium members as well, just not necessarily a private political forum. My idea is that discussions should generally remain public. Controversial discussions may also prompt people to register and participate, more so than not seeing them. Let me think about all the points that were brought up here.
You have a point that there is probably no need for a separate automotive forum ...
Not to hijack the thread again, but Izzo is banned for repeated offensive behavior in public and blatant insults of mods in private, disregarding previous warnings/temp ban, etc.
