i did see that and it makes me wonder if he was just trying to avoid from getting hit off balance.

What?

That ref ran right into that guy and laid his shoulder in, he’s lucky the whole team didn’t pile drive him into the ground after that.

moutainman any clue to what happened to the ref after that?

If he was standing straight up, but didnt follow the QB's movement, he'd have been fine.

agreed, but some of those refs don't move so well which leads to poor judgement on which way to go to get out of the way

They just had it on ESPN. The ref is a former line backer/captain and they were all pretty sure he was just defending himself as the QB changed direction right by him. I'm sure HE didn't want to go down, so he threw an elbow up to protect himself.

This is the position of the ACC or whoever group's ref it was.

that is what i thought, but different angles give different perspectives. oh well, they scored on that drive anyway.

I can't believe that they're going to let this ref go unpunished. That is simply unbelievable. The SEC is a joke.

Why? For protecting himself?

Do you really think he knocked the QB down on purpose?

It's pretty obvious, to me, that the hit was on purpose. Local sports radio station was talking about it for a while and they agreed that it was pretty blatant. Ref measured the QB up and then leaned in with the shoulder. Turns out, the ref was a great college linebacker in his day, so maybe he had some flashbacks. :rotfl:

it sure looks that way to me, if the ref was worried about getting hit he would have jumped back IMO, not jumped forward into the player.
