XP Antivirus 2008 (or 2009)

Post by Qui-Gon John »

Can anyone recommend a good, safe program to get rid of this rascal?

I did a google search and found several, but some of the ones I found did not seem legitimate, (may in fact be some kind of virus or spyware themselves).

Thanks!

How to remove XP Antivirus 2008+
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware ... -2008-2009

I have MalwareBytes Anti-Malware on all my pcs and install it on other clients and friends pcs. Seems to work very nice at removing this and quite a few others, some others have difficulty removing.

I also believe that Smitfraudfix removes this and such other variants, although alot of AV catch it cause it has a sig that runs

I've used MalwareBytes recently....excellent at cleaning this up.

Prior to that, I used Spybot 1.6, and SuperAntispyware. SDFix was good at a machine which was heavily infected with this (if the user clicked "yes" and installed the rest of it). At this point..I also use Esets SysInspector (which is like a combination of hijack and autoruns on super steroids)
