I have windows XPpro. Before using TCP Otimizer The speed test showed 723 up and 5023 down. This was pretty much the reading I got on ever test sever.
I tried TCP Optimizer set to optimal settings and got 2300 speed down and 683 up. I reverted the Back file
saying First spg back up and got slightly better result but very slight. The second back up did no better. Reset to windows default thru TCP opti and got 3000 down 700 up. My cable is free so I don't know the provider, but I do know it should be 768 up and 4900 or 5000 down. Its a business class cable high speed acct. with really wide band.
So I really don't know alot about Broad band but do know computers very well.
What caused such dramatic loss of speed and how do I get back to where I was?
Thanks
Slowed conection after using TCP optimizer

Hey Thanks. Before I got you reply I tinkered with settings and got it backup to over 5000 down and over 600 up. Then followed you advise and got:

It varies a little from from different tests.
But thanks for your help.
Like I said I really don't know the provider or for sure it's 768 up and 5460 down service
I do know its Dallas cable provider and a business class service with a pretty wide band.
Is this the best it will do?

Log into your router/modem and see what line speed it is getting from your ISP. You should be getting at least 90% of the line speed for cable internet.Nascat wrote:Like I said I really don't know the provider or for sure it's 768 up and 5460 down service
