hs/fan help

Post by t »

I just put together an asus CUSL2C and a p-3 1 gig cpu.
It idles at about 32-34 c using the stock hs/fan. I don't oc and I know cooler is better.
Running w2k/p with 256 megs ram.
Any suggestions on a better hs/fan combo that doesn't sound like a jet engine?
I'm kinda new to this, and any help is appreciated. Thanks....t

Just for your information, don't buy a Thermtake orb series, they are chip killers apparently (I found out first hand with my celeryII 700mhz). That aside, you should check out Alpha PAL-6035 MFC, a great fan, well known in most cricles. Check it out.

Really?? I just got a Thermaltake Mini Super Orb for a T-Bird 1.3 Ghz ... I'm planning to try to overclock to 1.5. This is the first I've heard about the Thermaltakes not being any good ... what info have you heard?
Thanx!

hi t,Terra is burping the first nonesense that comes from his mouth. PLease tell me that you are not that naive to beleive the first word of some nobody on the net including me? I can only tell you that I have a Thermaltake and it works just fine. Maybe not as well as an Alpha but Godam an alpha is 4X as expensive. A Thermaltake is not really appropriate for extreme overclocking. Try it and monitor your Temp.

Thermal Take used to go under the name Proten. Before that it was Gigatech. They just recently changed their name from Proten (maybe a couple of months ago). I am sure they are buying them from someone else and reselling them. They do not manufacture at their office in the Los Angeles Area.

Just some background

I am using GlobalWin FOP38's for both of my P3 700s @ 966mhz on a VP6 MoBo.

I highly recommend the Fop38. Its extremely easy to put on and much easier to work with than the Alpha series. Also the FOP38 cools at the Alpha level and is highly rated on overclocker websites. Cost runs between 21-26 bucks.

My temps are @ 32c & 33c on CPU 1 & 2 respectively and barely rises under a full load.

Well whatever nonesense I decide to "burp" out of my mouth you rude savage, is my own opinion and I gave it because he asked for it. So the next time you open your mouth, please remember that this, do onto others what you have done to yourself.
