what happened to my firefox ?
I was cruising the net and FF told me that it had just updated me to Firefox/2.0.0.15,it restarted, and now it won't let me look at mail in my yahoo mail account,I never had this problem before ,Ever!
wth ?
wth ?
maybe, but I don't think so,I can see the mail in IE,but if I go to my yahoo mail in FF,and click on any mail,it goes to a blank screen.MadDoctor wrote:Firewall setting?
the only thing that changed was the FF automatic update, otherwise,I didn't make ANY changes !
and if it is a firewall setting, then what settings should I check? the only fw I have is the windows fw,and I just turned it off and it still won't work.

Sounds odd to me, are you also using Mozilla Thunderbird If so may have to reconfigure it.
Check what cookie, pop up, and java settings are.
Know if cookies aren't enabled for Yahoo it wont let you access your acount.
Pop up settings could possibly (??) be causeing the blank screen you get when trying to view an e/mail
If all else fails post a thread on FF forum and see what they think.

I found this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 929AASAipH
and this http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... 8&t=716145
,
but I still don't see a permanent fix without installing AdBlock Plus

Ahhh, OK I think ic. The Netscape reference gave me an idea,
It's possibility though that an "extention" you had isn't compatible with the new verson of FF try disabling them first and restarting FF.
Was Netscape giveing you this problem before you updated FF and now both do it?
Or did it start on both when FF updated?
Either way it maybe that evil damn Netscapes fault, especially if NS is actively linked to a Yahoo account.
Try;
(a) signing out of all Yahoo accounts if you use the two week sign in option, restart PC an see if it works.
(b) if you have NS linked to a account, unlink it and restart
(c) if neither of those work uninstall and reinstall FF.
Since FF and NS share software, updating FF from the web site without an uninstall has been known to cause glitches.
Which is even more common if you happen to use both browsers.
FF has an option to allow you to keep bookmarks and settings while doing an uninstall, but to be on the safe side might want to export bookmarks and record name and version of Extentions and Themes to folder just to be sure.
Let me know if one of those fixes it
NVM,, just read Yahoo Answers and Monzillazine post so the above may not work.
Haven't encountered the problem as of yet and have tha same verson of FF as you do, don't know how to explain that.
Only thing I see wrong on Yahoo is there's an add lower left on the page that overlaps somewhat into the message text area.
So might want to check the front size settings in your Tools/Content/Front & colors options, and the text size and image zoom settings in the "View" drop down list are set to normal.
To see if that helps

ns did not do it before the ff update
mmmm edit"
I just signed out of ns and cleared the cookies and closed it,
then went into ff and enabled java script again ,and bam ! that did it,thanks,
but I still need to sign in to my other yahoo account.I guess I could just sign in each time,?!?
or do you have an idea for a fix
Per the google posts, the issue isn related to javascript + THIRD PARTY COOKIES. In FF 2.0.0.x there is no longer a setting to accept cookies ONLY from the originating site (disable 3rd party cookies). To config FF to accept cookies only from the originating site do this:
1. address bar > about:config
2. filter for "network".
3. find network.cookie.cookieBehavior > set value to 1.
values are:
0 All cookies are allowed. (Default)
1 Only cookies from the originating server are allowed.
2 No cookies are allowed.
3 Cookies are allowed based on the cookie P3P policy (Mozilla Suite and SeaMonkey only).
Then there's no need to disable javascript for Yahoo email. I use a yahoo account and have never had any issues w/ FF.
ps - definitely disable FF auto updates, best to decide yourself what and when to install.

Thanks for the tip Tony it's a good one I'm sure many will be glad to hear and get use out of.
I use the FF extenetion "Control cookies primissions" CS Light 1.3.5 to have cookie options at my fingertips which works well for me.
By using CS, disabling cookies in FF privacy options, useing the exceptions feature for sites I know I want to allow cookies on, and turning on the "Always clear my private data when I close FF" in two clicks I have control of all of them.
Plus the cookies I do occasionally need for a site are removed until my next visit after closeing FF

and Goliard's solution worked fine,I have JS enabled again, and it works great on yahoo,
and I will for sure turn off auto updates!
No, they are FF settings. ALL Firefox preferences are done with a local javascript file (.js). about:config opens the local pref.js file for editing in the browser. Each javascript function can take certain values; strings, intergers, boolean, similar to values in regedit keys.Dan wrote:are those registry settings?
