The mod to run at 3Ghz works fine. Will have to get new thermal compound and recheck the cooling. Too hot when running SMP and hotter than before when not. Yeah this means my smp will be down for a while.
It was those p2665's that pushed me into it. I know, should have picked up what I needed first. Knew there was a good chance I'd mess up the thermal compound. Found enough dust that I wonder what my temps were before the mod. This could have gone in overclocking too. I'm useing "Core Temp" to get my readings.
my Q6600 @ 3.5 with 1.36 volts under full load after v-droop is about 50C running SMP in a room of about 78F acording to real temp, under core temp add about 5C, there is questions on which software is correct though as intel will not release the info needed.
39c at idle so I have work to do. It's a HP so my voltages are locked to 1.275. I used a BSEL mod that pushed the FSB to 1333. I'm pretty sure the thermal compound was messed up. In a rural area with no car so I had to order what I need. Yeah the things a noob does. At least I was smart enough to check.
OK my smp is back up at 3ghz. It's an hp so I don't think I can do any better. takes my 2665 from 1500 to 1880 ppd. I get lower readings with real temp. will run real and core side by side to compare sometime.
