Don't have flat monitor. My 19" is .28dpi. [$180.]

Sounds like quite a trade-off there.

What is view like at .20dpi??

There is a show this weekend in Edison, NJ.
It is right off of Rt 287.

You can easily get a 21 inch monitor for under 350.....

The flat screen CRTs actually multi-DPI. The DPI is slightly greater in the corners.

For $500, get something that's Trinitron or Diamondtron. Diamondtron and Trinitron are essentially the same thing, just Trinitron uses one thicker horizontal line and Diamondtron uses two thinner horizontal lines. A good Diamontron is a 19" from Sceptre, out real soon and will cost between $350-400 but you will be able to get fifty dollars off if you buy online. You can get a NEC-Mitsubishi for more $$$ but won't last you as long and will have the same quality. Futura started making monitors w/ Diamontron and only cost like $300 for a 19" and last you three years but are pretty large. CTX and Iiayama have some good monitors too.

Have a 19" Viewsonic myself. Was bought when these things were a tad expensive. If memory serves me in the 4 digits 4 years ago. On 24/7/365 and still going strong. Would definatly buy another Viewsonic at the drop of a hat.

Because you've had it for 5 years, picture quality would of degraded a lot, obviously. 5 years ago they didn't have FD Trinitron, the original Trinitron tubes weren't 100% flat, the new FD Trinitrons ARE, like an LCD.

BTW, Samsung's "Dyna Flat" and such displays are just backward engineered versions of the Sony FD Trinitron CRT, just like Mitsubishi's "Diamondtron" series of CRT's

Hey Canadian you have right ,until one point .

The SONY SFII ,prove so far that is a hard to die part .
Other cheapo monitors at the age of 5 years ,they rest in peace .
As monitors repair tech i am happy to say that the performance drop of this SONY ,in sharper image (thats the biger problem in all monitors ) is only 20 % .

About the SAMSUNG 900IFT , its not a Trinitron tube.
And my profesional opinion after reading users and techs opinions ,is that this spesial model is , HARD to die one (No all models of monitors is good to that ) and also have the most less visual problems than any other monitor in this dimension of 19" today ,in focus - geometry - colors- white balance and any other spec that you can think ..

I forgot to tell you that i am perfection maniac :)

Take care

They did... maybe they've perfected it some, but ALL Aperture Grill tubes (KDS' Avitron, Mitsubishi's Diamondtron, Samsung's DynaFlat... etc)were ALL reverse engineered fom Sony's Tech.
