tell tale signs that cd-rom drive needs cleaning?
what are the signs. i put in a cd game and the cd-rom door keeps poppin out like it does not want to read it. This is the first time it has happened to me. Previously it had been working fine. i have tried other cd's and the same thing. is this an issue of cleaning the cd-rom drive with a cleaner. any suggestions. thanks in advance

Yep,
I hope you don't smoke around your computer...for two reasons. (1) Smoking is bad for you, and (2) it is bad for the lens your cd uses to focus the laser. The lens is coated with a special elixer of chemicals in a vaccuum chamber. A cigarette is also treated with a vast number of chemicals, which unfortunately will react with the ones on the lens and wreck it.
This will happen over time even if you don't smoke.
Don't try to clean the lens. If it is under warranty, send it back. Otherwise spend the $50 bucks and buy a brand new one that does work (and fill out the warranty card).
