My CD-RW doesnt work anymore... plz help me out

Post by Glug Glug Glug »

Howdy ppz;
I have a yamaha 4416 CD-RW. I bought it approximately 3 yrs ago. It was working fine all the time. Then when I installed WIN ME, It worked for few days then, it just wouldnt work. I mean when I try to burn something, it does burn because I can see the burned part when I flip the CD upside down. But then, the computer itself doesnt recognise waht it burned. If I burn data CD, I can see it burned but the computer doesnt recognise the data, and If I burn songs, and play it in my stereo system, first few sec play, then the quality is so bad.. all you hear is scratching. Sometimes it wont even read the audio CD. I have checked the internal IDE cable, tried re-installing the software, try cleaning the CD-RW with a CD cleaner kit, checked for any driver conflicts. Everything looks fine, but the CD wont work :confused: . Not sure if this is too much for you guys... but plz help me out as I usually burn about 2 CD/month. :(

How many cdr's have you burned? Maybe it's wore out? I'm sure that's not what you want to hear.

Try this. Uninstall the drivers for it and also unintall the burner.

Reboot and reinstall everything. Maybe it's a software/driver problem. :)
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout. There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, and prejudices to be found only in the minds of men. For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own for the children and the children yet unborn and the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.

What brand is the CD-R media?
Any error during burns?
Have you tried different CD mastering software?
Is DMA on or off?
Is the drive on it's own cable/channel or is it paired w/ another drive?
