Anti virus protection

Post by 24giovanni »

What do you guys think is the better one out of kaspersky 2008, NOD32 2008 or Bitdefender 2008? And if I used one of them do you think I should still use antispywere, antivar, spybot S&D, and windows defender?

Also, would I need comodo firewall.

thx

Nod32 is what I would use if I was buying anti virus protection again.. and you should still use superantispyware for spyware removal along side of spybot, between those they keep everything pretty clean.

It will actually be called Kaspersky 2009 when released and I know that it will be leaps and bounds above the rest. I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 RC right now and it's amazingly fast, light and even better detection rates with the new technologies that are implemented.

Have you run NOD32 recently to compare their speeds?

Either choice between NOD and Kaspersky...and you've made a good one.

The question to use additional anti ad/spyware protection...that's up to you and your surfing habits, and computer use habits. Personally all I do on my computer...Windows updates, use Firefox, and NOD32...as well as be behind a hardware firewall.

I haven't, but NOD32 has always been very light and fast and everyone always complained that Kaspersky took a long time to scan and was a bit heavier on resources. Well, they fixed these issues with version 2009, I honestly don't even feel it running.

As YOSC stated, you can't go wrong with either, I would even add Avira to that list, excellent product, light, fast and excellent detection rates.

I agree. My only somewhat complaint had been KAV's scanning times, otherwise its been a great product, if it really is that light now, that is awesome.
