Nod32 v. AVG
If you only had a choice between Nod32 or AVG, which would you use?

NOD32.
It finds more windows/macro/sript viruses than AVG on http://www.av-comparatives.org/ tests.
AVG has improved and in other areas like trojans it is slightly better, but its also a slower scanner, and looking at the retrospective test on av comparatives its easy to see that NOD's method or frequent updates makes it a better option agaisnt unknown threats.

Theres a bunch of AVG users and some Avast users here, most liekly they use it cuz its free.ghettoside wrote:wow, with all the avg enthusiasts here I'm surprised to not find a heated debate here.
Does this mean no-one here prefers avg over Nod?![]()
It amazes me that people continue to use them so much when Avira Antivir free edition is so much better, its as dominant over the free ones as NOD32 and KAV are over the paid competition.

agreed. I'm just a little surprised we didn't hear from the retail avg users. I didn't specify free or retail so the door would be open for them to jump in.YARDofSTUF wrote:Theres a bunch of AVG users and some Avast users here, most liekly they use it cuz its free.
I used to recommend avira. I remember you and I discussed avira last year or the year before.YARDofSTUF wrote:...It amazes me that people continue to use them so much when Avira Antivir free edition is so much better, its as dominant over the free ones as NOD32 and KAV are over the paid competition.
I don't recall which version it was that made me stop using it, I just remember lots of false positives, then I got hammered by a virus and it crossed 3 partitions in the blink of an eye, had to redo the whole rig cuz I couldn't clean the infection.
Considering your positive assessment of avira, I'll have to try it again on a test rig.
