Video Card, 32 MB DDR or 64 MB DDR?

Post by billyboysport »

Which video card is a better deal, and I only have a choice of these two as I'm getting a customized one. A 64MB DDR Creative 3D Blaster GeForce2 GTS Ultra or a 32MB nVidia GeForce2 GTS with DDR? What exactly is the difference except that the GEForce 2 Ultra is over $230 more and is a bit quicker. What is the better deal, and what has better performance in speed and quality. Can anyone even tell the difference in speed and performance?

i believe the ultra has faster ram, if u plan on getting a geforce 3 then i'd hold off or buy the 32meg card, uif u are buying it to last, buy the 64meg ultra, u will like it :)

I would buy the 32meg card myself. I mean... that's a huge price jump for a just a little bit more proformance. Think of it this way. Five years ago, most people had 32megs of ram. Some people might have had 128 or even 256... they were thinking ahead. Of course, that much ram was very expensive; but they were planning on the future. Now, we need 128 or 256megs of ram. but, look at the prices today.

Someday, you'll need 64megs of ram on your video card to run the games that are out. You dont need it right now though. The price differance is too much! I have a radeon with 64megs of ddr and although i'm impressed with it, it's still not perfect. Guess what... running it with an amd550 it still skips frames once in a while.

How about the ATI Radeon 32MB DDR and the 64MB one? I saw them on pricewatch for $82 and $181 respectively. Is it worth 100 bucks for another 32MB and a TV out?
Any one has the Turtle beach Montego II Quadzilla?? Looks good, saw them on price watch also for 49 bucks....just want to buy these new parts for my 1Ghz

your just limiting yourself on a fast system with a slow video card

get a 64MB DDR vid card, either GeForce2 Ultra or Radeon 64MB DDR

if your using Win2k the GeForce2 is a better option, cause as i've found out recently the Radeon does not have good Win2k drivers yet
